M.S. Dhoni : An Inspiration to all the small town dreamers.
India has produced many great cricketers ever since it started playing international cricket, but the heights to which MS Dhoni has taken to Indian Cricket under his leadership over the last one decade is something not any other Indian Captain has ever been able to do. Likewise, M.S. Dhoni is an inspiration to many.
His journey from a ticket collector in Indian Railway to the most successful captain of Indian cricket team has been very inspiring and amazing. Who would have thought that one day a boy from a small town in India would go on to become the first captain to win all the ICC trophies.
Be it his sharp and unparalleled skills behind the stumps or his tremendous finishing ability to take the match out of opponent’s jaw at the very last moment in many nail-biting matches, he has given zillions of memories to cherish to the billions of people in our country.
His calm and composed nature on the field and the ability to absorb the pressure like a sponge has rightly earned him the title of “Captain Cool”.
His life in itself a great pool of inspiration for billions of people, especially those who hail from a small town and are brought up in middle-class families. At the age of 37, he is still as fit and passionate as many youngsters, and he has proven that age is just a number as long as you are hungry, dedicated and physically fit to do your job. This is one of the main reasons why M.S. Dhoni is an inspiration to many people out there.
Despite being one among billion, he prefers to stay away from the limelight. His simple and down to earth nature makes him even greater. The way he encourages the youngsters in the team and takes along everyone tells a lot about what a team guy and gem of a person he is.
It has been said that getting to the top is easy but retaining that position is the most difficult, and MS Dhoni is one of those few players who hasn’t been dropped from the team throughout their cricketing career on the grounds of performance.
“If you can meet with triumph and disaster and treat those two impostors just the same; yours is the earth and everything that’s in it” These words from the poem of Rudyard Kipling aptly resonates with his personality. He is gracious and humble in both victory and defeat. He understands that both success and failure are fleeting, and it’s not the individual but the team which wins and loses.
